East County - San Diego
East County - San Diego is a region of San Diego County located east of the city of San Diego.
East County includes the following incorporated cities:

Hubert H. Bancroft Ranch House
The Hubert H. Bancroft Ranch House, constructed in 1855, is a historic house and museum located in Spring Valley which is in East County San Diego. The property is now managed as a museum by the local historical society. It has been designated a National Landmark and is registered as a California Historical Landmark. Bancroft was the author of a 39-volume set of history books published between 1882 and 1890. His 50,000-volume library is now located at the University of California, Berkeley.
Rancho San Diego
Rancho San Diego is an upper-middle-income residential community and census-designated place in East County-San Diego. The community is home to Kumeyaay Community College and Cuyamaca College. Spring Valley is to the west and EI Cajon is to the north.
Spring Valley
Spring Valley is a census-designated place and the largest unincorporated community in San Diego County, located in East County San Diego. The thirteen square mile community borders the cities of La Mesa and EI Cajon to the north, Rancho San Diego and Jamul to the east, Bonita and the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge to the south, and the City of San Diego and Lemon Grove to the west. Neighborhoods within Spring Valley include Casa de Oro, Calavo Gardens, La Presa, Dictionary Hill, Mt. Helix, La Mesa Country Club, Homelands, and Bancroft Pont. Spring Valley is named for the natural spring located there.
Volcan Mountains
The Volcan Mountains are a small mountain range in East County - San Diego that is about 13 miles long and about 5 miles wide. They define the western side of the San Felipe Valley, with the San Felipe Hills making up the east side of the range. The highest point is Pechacho Peak which rises to 1,743 feet. The town of Julian and the Historic Coleman gold mining district are on the southern side of the range. Lake Henshaw is immediately to the northwest. The Volcan Mountains should not be confused with the Volcan Hill which are also in San Diego County, located in the Colorado Desert.
Black Mountain (San Diego)
Black Mountain is a summit in Cleveland National Forest in East County - San Diego. The mountain is located just north of Ramona and stands at 4,048 feet. It is often referred to as Big Black Mountain to distinguish it from the smaller Rancho Penasquitos Black Mountain Open Space Park located in the City of San Diego.
Pine Creek Wilderness
The Pine Creek Wilderness, established by Congress in 1984, is a 13,201 wilderness area in East County - San Diego. Elevations range from 2,000 feet to 4,000 feet above sea level. The beautiful wilderness area is open to the public but requires a permit for both day and overnight use. The wilderness is governed by the United States Forest Service as part of the Cleveland National Forest. The nearest city is EI Cajon.
La Mesa
La Mesa is a rapidly growing residential census-designated place and was officially a part of Spring Valley until 1990. It is still informally referred to as Spring Valley by many of the residents. Spring Valley is directly to the north. The Sweetwater Summit Regional Park and Reservoir is directly to the south. The beautiful park offers fishing, camping, hiking trails, horseback riding, clean restrooms and more.
Lemon Grove
Lemon Grove, incorporated in 1977, is a small city in the southwestern area of San Diego County. It was once part of Mission San Diego de Alcala, one of the early Spanish missions in California. Spring Valley is to the east and La Presa is to the southeast Lemon Grove features six neighborhood parks.
Pacific Southwest Railway Museum
The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum, established in 1959, is located in the town of Campo which is in the Mountain Empire area of southeastern San Diego County. The 140 acre museum has 90 locomotives and railroad cars on display which includes five steam locomotives. The museum is also home to the Southwest Railway Library which contains the second largest collection of railroad history in California. The museum manages the original La Mesa depot in downtown La Mesa which has a smaller collection on display.
Agua Caliente County Park
Agua Caliente County Park is a 910-acre park located west of Anza Borrego Desert State Park in East County - San Diego. The park offers geothermally heated springs, 3.95 miles of hiking trails, 140 camp sites, RV hookups, and lots of picnic areas.
Agua Caliente Airport
Agua Caliente Airport is a 160 acre, general aviation, public airport with one runway located about one mile northeast of Agua Calente County Park in East County - San Diego. Aircraft operations average 370 per month.
Witch Creek
Witch Creek is a stream and tributary of Santa Ysabel Creek in East County - San Diego. Its headwaters are on the western face of Dry Mountain which is in the Cuyamaca Mountains range.
Southern California Seminary
Southern California Seminary (SCS) is a private, accredited Christian institution dedicated to teaching from the inerrant Word of God for over 75 years. Southern California Seminary is a ministry of Shadow Mountain Community Church which is under the leadership of Dr. David Jeremiah. The mission of SCS is to bring glory to God by building Christian knowledge, Christian character, and ministry skills. SCS is located in EI Cajon which is about 17 miles east of Downtown San Diego.
Woodson Mountain
Woodson Mountain, also known as Mount Woodson, is a 2,901 foot mountain near Poway in East County - San Diego. The mountain is known for its Potato Chip Rock, because the rock is very thin and cantilevered over 14 feet, creating the appearance of a potato chip. The famous rock, which has become a tourist attraction, is located just west and below the summit The easiest way to reach the rock is through a 6.6 mile round-trip hike from Lake Poway.

EI Cajon Mountain, also known as EI Capitan and EI Cap, is a 3,677 feet high mountain in the Cuyamaca Mountains in East County.
