Video Surveillance Cameras - Release of Video

Many homeowner associations and apartment building owners are installing video surveillance cameras in parking garages, entry and exit areas, recreation and fitness rooms, and other common areas. The cameras are being installed due to the increase in crime that has taken place since early 2020. The cameras are intended to collect evidence after a crime has been committed and to discourage people from committing criminal acts.

Not all surveillance camera systems are the same which means that video will be captured and retained for a longer or shorter period of time depending on the equipment. In addition, some cameras capture more detail than others making it easier to identify people who commit crimes.

Please note that video will only be released to law enforcement.

We strongly recommend the installation of surveillance cameras in the common areas of community associations and apartment buildings. Dummy cameras should never be used.
